Call us if you notice any of these:

• Cool or lukewarm air in heat mode – often a reversing valve, a refrigerant problem, or a failed outdoor fan.
• The “Aux” or “Emergency Heat” light stays on – your backup electric heat strips are doing the heat pump’s job. The house stays warm, but the power bill climbs fast.
• Ice that doesn’t clear – light frost on the outdoor coil is normal and the defrost cycle melts it. A thick block of ice, or ice that stays for hours, is not.
• It won’t switch between heating and cooling – usually the reversing valve, its solenoid, or the thermostat.
• Short cycling – the system turns on and off every few minutes.
• New noises – grinding, rattling, loud clicking, or a hiss from the outdoor unit.
• A sudden jump in your electric bill with no change in how you use the system.
